Genius is the most powerful marketing programme for partners on Booking.com, designed to help you stand out to our most loyal, high-value travellers.
To start offering Genius discount via API you will need to add extra fields to your search webhook integration.
WHAT IT IS NEEDED FROM YOU TO SHARE GENIUS DISCOUNT VIA API
- Have your developers (or external dispatch system) to enable the new Genius search webhook fields
- All fields requested are available in the API search webhook part of the documentation: HERE
- In the search request we will tell you if the request is from a Genius customer
- In the search response we expect you to communicate that you share the discount by vehicle
- After integration is finished, please inform your Account Manager with all the cities where you will offer Genius discounts
MOST ASKED QUESTIONS
- Will you tell us if a booking is Genius or not Genius? Yes, at search request you will know from us if the customer is Genius or Non Genius. (currently no matter the customer genius level, you will only see 'genius one' if the 'genius.level' field).
- Is Genius API discount on the cost price or total selling price? The discount is applied on your cost price (ex. 100 euro cost, 5% genius, we will pay you 95 euro). The discount calculation is done on our side.
- Do Genius campaigns on Portal work for API rates? No, the Genius tab on portal will not work for API rates (as all campaigns, stop-sales and any pricing tool on portal does not apply to API rates).
- Can I activate campaigns via API for over 6 months? API Genius is by booking and by vehicle type, therefore you have total control of where, when and for how long you want to fund Genius.
- Can I fund genius only for specific vehicle types? Yes, you can.
- If the booking is not Genius, do we need to return a discount? For all non Genius bookings as per documentation you can send the fields with “null”, but also if you send a discount we will anyway not consider the genius discount for non genius bookings
- Which % can we share? You can share from 5 to 10%. Please note that if you share anything below 5 (0, 2, 4) or above 10 (11,15) the system will return an error (discuss the % with your Account Manager)
- To enable Genius discount in a city or country, do we need to wait any work from Booking.com side? No, you can share Genius discount in any area you are active for searches. It is still important you let your Account Manager know where you plan to fund Genius.

How do I track Genius Co-funded bookings via API? Currently, you need to track the combination of bookingReference and
searchResultId
to match contributions on your system. Please use our portal report (Genius), which also provides details on bookings with discounts via API rates. More details about the report are available HERE.
