What is Genius?
Genius is our loyalty program launched in 2013 with millions active members with benefits across all of our products. Genius is important to Rides since 80% of bookings are made by Genius customers.
How has Genius for Rides worked previously?
Booking.com has been funding the Genius discount for Rides customers for the past few years, contributing on average 60% of partner bookings. As we continue to scale, we can no longer sustain this discount on our own. To ensure we continue delighting our Genius customers, so they keep coming back to both us and you for more rides, we would love your support in funding it.
New volume rebate scheme
As of 2025, we are introducing changes to the volume rebate scheme with the aim of not charging rebates for bookings that you are co-funding with Genius discounts. This means that the more Genius bookings you co-fund in 2025, the lower the rebate percentage you will pay.
Example*:
Looking at the example of the rebate structure below, a partner who co-funds 25% of their Genius bookings qualifies for Tier 3 of the volume rebate, which equals 4%. If a partner co-funds over 50% of their Genius bookings, they will qualify for Tier 6 of the volume rebate, which equals 2.5%.
Note: The rebate percentage will apply only to bookings that haven’t been co-funded by the partner. In essence, the more Genius bookings a partner co-funds, the lower the rebate percentage they will pay.
